ASBESTOS ROOFS.

why you should replace an asbestos roof .

Asbestos is a material that was used to make a wide range of construction materials in the past. Although the use of such materials has already been prohibited, most homes that were constructed a few decades ago still have asbestos.

Usually, asbestos becomes dangerous when it's disturbed because the fibres become airborne, and that's why the asbestos in the internal walls can be less risky than the one in the roof. When natural occurrences like storms occur, the asbestos roof will be unsafe for you and your neighbors. This is the reason why experts recommend that you undertake an asbestos roof replacement project immediately when you realise that your roof contains asbestos.

safety.

Personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protective equipment (RPE) is the last line of defence against exposure to asbestos fibres, which should be prevented or reduced to as low as is reasonably practicable by engineering controls before RPE is employed. Once it is established that exposure is liable to exceed the control limit of 0.1 f/cm3 despite the precautions taken, RPE must be provided and worn. This will normally include all notifiable asbestos work.
